Focus on Finding Out What You Want

Today’s post is a reader submission. I love her perspective on freeing yourself from expectations and getting into what’s right for you.

I would love to leap back in time, and tell myself:

Don’t worry about whether or not a guy likes you. Worry about whether or not YOU like THEM. It’s better to spend your time finding out what you want, what YOU prefer, than trying to fit anyone else’s idea of what you should be.

Also, you don’t have to live the life that everyone else does. You don’t have to feel bad if you don’t want to settle down in one relationship, or one career. You don’t need to feel guilty about wanting to wander and have adventures.

You don’t have to have kids. You don’t have to want them. Your life can be fully as meaningful and important with or without them- you can spend your time making a lasting impact without making another you.

And most of all, slow down. There is no rush. Try everything, say yes. Find out what you want, and then, only then, go grab it.
