What three “gifts” would you give a 20-something if you were a “Forty-Godmother”? 40-something women share three things to help a 20-something get a head start on the confidence to make decisions that are right for themselves. No more woulda, coulda, shoulda.
1. Take more risks in your twenties as you have plenty of time to play catch-up. I take more emotional risks now as I know I will bounce back and be fine no matter what the world gives me.
2. Control what you can control. Let the rest of it go. I don’t ever really sweat if things don’t happen the way I want them to. There’s nothing you can do. I think you have to make yourself happy on a daily basis, figure out what’s important and go with it.
3. Learn to appreciate how unique you are. When you are authentic and happy you make a good partner. You can’t do that if you are worrying about fitting in or impressing others. The right person will move mountains to be with you–the real, authentic you with all your wonderful flaws
