Don’t Keep Your Eye On The Horizon, Seek Out New Horizons (and Other Things I Wish I Knew Then)

No one can tell you what’s within your reach except you. Constantly put yourself in situations that expand your horizon of what is possible. Learning, volunteering, traveling or simply exploring parts of your city that are outside your stopping grounds, reading. Open up your your view of what you can do.

Practice your confidence muscle. Do things that are hard for you to do. Start with a new physical activity or giving a toast. Remember that feeling of accomplishing something that you couldn’t do before when you are feeling insecure.

Ask your friends give you a performance review. Often, they can see strengths and superpowers that you may not see yourself. And hard as it is, listen to what they see as your weaknesses too. This is helpful when you are looking for a job or taking a step up…and aren’t sure you have what it takes.

Three Gifts for a 20-Something: What three “gifts” would you give a 20-something if you were a “Forty-Godmother”? Here 40-somethings share three wishes to help a 20-something get a head start on the confidence to make decisions that are right for them (not their parents, friends, teachers or society). No more woulda, coulda, shoulda.

If you would like to submit your three gifts, use the share/ ask / submit link!
