1. Use your friends. If you let them, your friends will be there for you. They don’t even need to be your best friend but just knowing you here a circle of support to say — you got this, is so valuable. Cultivate this circle and give back.
2. See your parents in a new light – as real people, flaws and all. Understand that they were influenced by a different world when they grew up. They may have the best of intentions, but you have to make decisions for yourself based on the now. Understanding their intention helps you bring them with you.
3. Don’t waste your time with other people’s definition of what a good relationship is.
