3 Gifts for a 20-Something

shutterstock_110769932What three “gifts” would you give a 20-something if you were a “Forty-Godmother”?  Here 40-something women share three things to help a 20-something get a head start on the confidence to make decisions that are right for themselves. No more woulda, coulda, shoulda.

1.  Don’t accept a carte blanche “I am not good at (math, tech, art….fill in the blank). Figure it out for yourself and explore different aspects of something before you dismiss it. And no matter what…learn to be “good with money”.

2. Learn how to fall. There is a saying, “It’s one thing to learn how to ride a horse but you’ve got to learn how to fall.” That has always stuck with me. It’s true. Learning how to fall is the best experience. It’s more important than being successful because that’s what will make you successful.

3. Just because things don’t turn out the way you think they were going to doesn’t mean they are wrong. Sit with change for a little bit before you revert.
