What three “gifts” would you give a 20-something if you were a “Forty-Godmother”? 40-something women share three things to help a 20-something get a head start on the confidence to make decisions that are right for themselves. No more woulda, coulda, shoulda.
1. Never assume anything. You can’t guess what is going on in anyone’s head or expect them to know what is going on in yours. It will only lead to trouble or disappointment!
2. if you have a partial urge to start put your own business…put your entrepreneurial chips on the table now because even if you fail, the education you get from it will take you to your next thing. You will have something to show for it.
3. Train your instincts to be helpful to people because it will pay dividends in business…but realize that not everyone will remember it in your 30s. Overtime you will learn to differentiate between people who remember it only in the moment and people who never forget. It doesn’t mean you have to be Mother Teresa or that you have to help everyone…but don’t underestimate karma.
