Every time I interview a 40-something woman for 40:20 Vision I ask them what 3 “gifts” would they give a 20-something if they were a “Forty-Godmother”. Here are one woman’s gifts:

1.

To look fear in the face….and then beyond the fear. Fear blinds you to the possibilities.

2.

To give up any judgment you come into your 20s with. You may have only been around a small breadth of people. You may have a narrow idea of what success is.  But at then end of the day, only looking at traditional models of success is limiting. Surround yourself, or commit to learn about, a diversity of ways of life.

3.

Patience. You likely will have a long life and so don’t try to cram all your expectations into one decade.  Great things will happen later and you need to be prepared. It will be fantastic. You have all these great steps ahead of you.  Ghandi and Martin Luther King were incredibly brave fighters but they were restrained. That is what I mean.
