Herewith, three “gifts” one 40-something would give a 20-something as their “Forty-Godmother”. What are yours?
1.
Don’t be afraid of your own “pizzaz”. I was afraid of my own pizzazz in the work world in my early twenties. I’m a pretty fun, punky woman. In my early twenties, I got the job done and I was very professional. My sense of humor didn’t come out so much. I had a certain expectation for myself of what professionalism is and what it took to get ahead. It worked. I looked the part but I wasn’t really being myself. There is room for a little more authenticity and it may help you find your own path sooner.
2.
Time to try something new every time you visit a different city — a restaurant, museum or cultural event. You never know…it could change your life.
3.
A career that interests you. You don’t have to be “passionate” about what you do every minute – but it should never bore you.
