What three “gifts” would you give a 20-something if you were a “Forty-Godmother”? 40-something women share three things to help a 20-something get a head start on the confidence to make decisions that are right for themselves. No more woulda, coulda, shoulda.
1. Don’t go watch football at bars every week to meet guys. Go because you like watching football. If not, it can be pretty transparent and that is not why they are there. Exception…Superbowl parties.
2. Find a sport you do love to watch that you can converse with on and off screen. Don’t let the “only men on the golf course” thing stop you. Figure out another way to be there and get in the network. Don’t isolate yourself. The world does enough of that for you.
[from a investment banker who found that biking trips can do as much as golf trips].
3. Ditch the Sunday Blues. It’s your weekend take it. Do what energizes you (and if that is work great) …and then jump into Monday when Monday comes.
