Every time I interview a 40-something woman for 40:20 Vision I ask them what 3 “gifts” would they give a 20-something if they were a “Forty-Godmother”. Here are one woman’s gifts:
1. Persistence. The first 10 times you may think you aren’t being heard, but then when you get the job, the ask, many a time the answer will be because you kept at it. Just make sure your qualifications meet the ask.
2. Knowing when not to persist. It’s the old, he’s just not that in to you, but don’t let the fantasy get in the way of your reality and finding someone you can spend some real time with (avoid stalking at all costs).
3. A drama meter — when it is too much drama…there is probably a reason. Get over the need for drama for drama’s sake. Do you really want to be dealing with this 10, 2o, 50 years from now?
