Three Wishes for a 20-Something (112)

Herewith, three “gifts” one 40-something would give a 20-something as their “Forty-Godmother”. What are yours?

1.

Don’t confuse people liking you with success.  If someone – your boss, a colleague or a client– doesn’t like you that doesn’t mean you aren’t good at your job, smart, etc.  It just means they don’t like you. Not everyone is going to. Do seek the opinion of people you respect and cultivate and relationships with people that you can help or who can help you.

2.

Look for your next job as soon as you get a a new job.  It will help you keep focused on growth so you can do your job better and keep you abreast on what is going on in your market.

 3.

No marriage or relationship is “normal”. So stop trying to live up to anybody else’s expectations but your own. Do not compare.
