Three Gifts for a 20-Something (21)

Every time I interview a 40-something woman for 40:20 Vision I ask them what 3 “gifts” would they give a 20-something if they were a “Forty-Godmother”. Here are one woman’s gifts:

1.

A tennis partner who is better than you because it’s the best way to learn. That’s an analogy of course.  Don’t always surround yourself with people that make you feel smarter or better. Surround yourself with people who challenge you to be better. Winning is not always the point.

2.

I would give them $100 to spend on an experience. Something you can learn from. I do that with the young people that work for me. I tell them I won’t give you $100 to make your car payment but I will give you $100 to go do something you have never done. Stop playing the video game, get out of the mall and go experience life and be alive. Don’t be stagnant. Use your imagination to do something other than going to sleep, work and going home. It doesn’t have to be huge. It could be golf lessons, an art class.

3.

The ability to forgive.
