Herewith, three “gifts” one 40-something woman would give a 20-something if she were a “Forty-Godmother”. What are yours?
The ability to know how to ask for money in your 20s. Speak up and know what you deserve.
A money manager in your thirties.
I don’t think you have much to manage early in your twenties.Don’t be so hung up on your retirement in your twenties. I know that is the worst advice you can probably give anybody…but you have to live your life.
And that doesn’t mean you should spend all your time shopping.I know you have great legs in your twenties but that doesn’t mean you should be that concerned with wearing Manolos. If you’re going to spend your money on something extravagant, make it travel. You probably don’t have kids in your twenties and you can go to other countries for a month and not have to worry. Think more about the soul content rather than your closet content.
Don’t be afraid to get fired.
Embrace it. That I did not learn until I was 39. A lot of people think that if they get fired it’s the end of the world. It’s not! It’s so much better. Things usually turn out to be so much better.
