Today’s post is from a 40-something entrepreneur on what she is most is most proud of when she looks back on her career. It touches on the topic of women not only having a voice but also making sure it gets heard. If you know what you believe in it’s easier to say it with conviction.
“The thing I’m most proud of is being comfortable in my own skin. It can be hard when you’re young and in technology, digital or probably any industry when you first start out. People are using language that you don’t understand and they are talking a whole new game so you kind of pretend. You start to embody other people’s language and behaviors.
What I’m most proud of now is being able to say what I think even if it goes against conventionalism or the industry standard. If you’re going to be an innovator, a visionary or whatever you want to be, even if it is just being yourself…I don’t care what you want to be, you’re going to be happier if you can just say ‘I firmly believe this.’
So I’m very proud of being comfortable with the fact that I’m not doing what everybody else wants to do, or doing it the way everybody wants to or what they think is the right way.”
