Three Gifts for a 20-Something (180)

August 24th, 2014 — 12:47pm

Every time I interview a 40-something woman for 40:20 Vision I ask them what three “gifts” would they give a 20-something if they were a “Forty-Godmother”. In essence, three things to help you get a head start on perspective and gain the confidence you need to make decisions that are right for you. No more woulda, coulda, shoulda. ~ 1. Have a "to do" list and a "not-to-to" list. Don’t be intimated by things you don’t understand. ... keep reading...

Three Gifts for a 20-Something (178)

August 10th, 2014 — 12:52pm

This week's 3 wishes for a 20-something I took away from an amazing event I attended yesterday…the She's The First Summit.  She's the First is a millennial founded non-profit that sends girls in underdeveloped countries to be the first woman in their family to go to graduate from secondary school…creating next generation leaders and economic growth. Tammy Tibbetts started this charity on her own and has grown primarily through leveraging the power Millennials and students have to end global poverty–"one small ... keep reading...

While so much of what happened on 9/11 transpired in an instant, there is nothing to commemorate it that can be contained in an instant. ... keep reading...

Moving past “hot mess” chic

June 11th, 2013 — 12:06pm
woman in the workplace

I’ll confess it: I’m a recovering hot mess. In the years after college, I was often self-deprecating and unconfident, minimizing my achievements and playing demure as a means to connect—especially with men. I struggled to get concrete about what I wanted in work and in love. I see these kinds of adorably flustered young female characters everywhere in pop culture. We don’t even call ourselves women. We’re still GIRLS, as Lena Dunham and HBO remind us, who ... keep reading...

Three Gifts For A 20-Something (113)

May 6th, 2013 — 11:46am

Herewith, three “gifts” one 40-something would give a 20-something as their “Forty-Godmother”. What are yours?   1. Experimentation. You have all the ingredients. Use your twenties to experiment with your recipe. Try new things and figure out what your secret ingredient is ….the unique tweaks that make the recipe all yours.  2.  Your own props. Don’t depend on someone else to build you up. Let them be the support structure but not the foundation.  3.  Nothing is forever. People change…and you ... keep reading...
