This week’s 3 wishes for a 20-something come from Millennial Contributor Stephanie Florence following a fantastic event we both attended…the launch of Denise Restauri’s book Their Roaring Thirties: Brutally Honest Career Talk From Women Who Beat The Youth Trap.

~

Denise began interviewing 30-somethings after an online search on them turned up nothing more than dating stories. She knew there was much more to this decade of women and set out to share their stories. As a 20-something, these women motivate me and remove any fears I have about inching closer to 30. Thanks to these inspiring women, I’ll be looking forward to taking that next decade head on.

These are 3 gifts that I took away for my fellow 20-somethings:

Start with “I.” Whenever I had writer’s block, my husband gave me this piece of advice and if you ask the 30-somethings featured in the book, they will tell you they heard this many times. – Denise Restauri, Founder & CEO of GirlQuake, Forbes contributor

Do things you love. I could never answer the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” – instead I decided to do it all. The biggest key to my great productivity is doing things I love. – Leslie Graff, Fine Artist, Pyschosocial and Developmental Specialist and Online Course Creator

Build your network with people you can learn from. Starting out, I had a difficult time networking with other female lawyers later learning that many women were still concerned there was only one seat at the boardroom table for a woman. I formed a strong bond with real estate agent Dolly Lenz – while our industries vary, we are both business-focused. – Jayne Juvan, Partner at Roetzel
