3 Gifts For a 20-Something (175)

Every time I interview a 40-something woman for 40:20 Vision I ask them what three “gifts” would they give a 20-something if they were a “Forty-Godmother”. In essence, three things to help you get a head start on perspective and gain the confidence you need to make decisions that are right for you. No more woulda, coulda, shoulda.

~

1. Don’t get too caught up in planning exactly what your future will look …you will change and things will change. Pay attention to what you want and how it aligns with your values rather than how it aligns with a set timeline.

2. Do think about the long-term when thinking about marriage. It’s not about what age you get married it’a about how long you want to be married. The  “I do” is just the beginning….is this someone you can imagine facing highs and lows with and still laugh with after 50 years?

3. Don’t expect more from others in your life than you expect from yourself.
