Giving New Meaning To YOLO and Other Life Lessons

This week’s three gifts are from a man and a woman whose wisdom goes beyond age. John Feal and Amanda Nyugen were on a panel discussing Jennifer Dulski’s book, “Purposeful, Do You Want To Be A Manager Or A Movement Starter?”

Both survivors and advocates tor change. Amanda Nyugen, a rape survivor, created RISE, a national nonprofit that fights for sexual violence survivors’ civil rights. John Feal, is a 9/11 first responder who created the FealGood Foundation to help fellow first responders get medical care. They each are making a big impact, from changing laws and to creating movements.

“I think hope is contagious, especially when you’re fighting a fight bigger than just yourself. It does take a drumbeat to start a movement. Influencers matter. Understand what motivates them and know where your chess pieces are.” –Amanda Nyugen

“When people say you only live once, that’s not true. You die once. You live every day.” — John Feal

“It doesn’t matter what you look like, it doesn’t matter who you are, if you want it, go and do it.” – Amanda Nyugen

Three Gifts for a 20-Something: What three “gifts” would you give a 20-something if you were a “Forty-Godmother”? Here 40-somethings share three wishes to help a 20-something get a head start on the confidence to make decisions that are right for them (not their parents, friends, teachers or society). No more woulda, coulda, shoulda.

If you would like to submit your three gifts, use the share/ ask / submit link!
