Three Wishes for a 20-Something

shutterstock_110769932What three “gifts” would you give a 20-something if you were a “Forty-Godmother”?  40-something women share three things to help a 20-something get a head start on the confidence to make decisions that are right for themselves. No more woulda, coulda, shoulda.

1. Don’t be in a big hurry to buy a lot of stuff. I find that you spend the first half of your life acquiring and then the second half “downsizing” — getting rid of it all. Enjoy your experiences and learn what is worth spending on slowly. But do have one great pair of shoes for interviews, etc.

2. If you are in a relationship, take the one thing about your relationship that  worries you or bothers you a little bit now. Then assume that trait will only magnify over time. Ask yourself if you can life with that.

3. Don’t assume you are not qualified for a job until someone tells you that you are. Go for jobs or projects that challenge you and fill in the blanks by trying harder – researching what it takes.
