Three Gifts for a 20-Something

WIshlist-3 Wishes ImageWhat three “gifts” would you give a 20-something if you were a “Forty-Godmother”?  40-something women share three things to help a 20-something get a head start on the confidence to make decisions that are right for themselves. No more woulda, coulda, shoulda.

1. Do spring cleaning. When you have friends or people in your life that don’t do anything to help you grow no matter how much love and forgiveness that you give them, it’s okay not to have them in your life. Give yourself permission to be okay with that. We don’t get to choose our family…but our friends and boyfriends we do.

2. Invest in yourself too. If you’re in your twenties and you’re not that financially stable and you have opportunity to travel …go. If you have a passion for starting a business…you can’t afford not to go for it. Get a loan. You have the rest of your life to pay back that $10,000 because you’ve just invested it in a different kind of education. Some businesses are risky, but if that’s what you love, do it. You can afford to fail at it in your twenties in a way that you can’t afford to do in your forties and fifties. You don’t have to succeed in your twenties. You can fail and learn and pick up your efforts and you never have to look back and “Oh I wish.”

3.  Be compassionate. Everyone wakes up in a different house with different circumstances every morning.
